DEPARTMENT OF HOME AND RURAL ECONOMICS

This programme is designed to produce personnel who will be able to organize and exploit rural resources for the improvement of the industrial potential and welfare of the rural populace.

On completion of this programme, successful graduates should be able to organize and educate rural women on decent housekeeping, including aesthetics and environmental sanitation. Organize and educate rural women on techniques of improved food production, food processing, producing various balance food for the home and local restaurants using locally available raw materials. Counsel rural women on marriage, family planning, childcare, and other social problems.

In addition to National Diploma in Home and Rural Economics, the Department under consultancy offers part-time Diplomas including Food, Nutrition and Dietetics; Food Processing and Preservation as well as Food Security and Safety.
